What MI-SPEI offers
MI-SPEI gathers Banxico's lookup services for SPEI transfers, and the form to download a payment's CEP is one of them. It's not a different way to transfer money: it's where you check what already moved, after the operation settled.
Official sourceTo look up a transfer, Banxico asks for the payment date, the tracking key or reference number, and the sending and receiving institutions. Those four details are enough; nothing else is needed.
MI-SPEI and your bank account
The CEP downloads without needing an account: anyone with the transfer's details can request it on the Banxico site, whether they sent the payment, received it, or are a third party who needs to confirm it. Other MI-SPEI services do require an account at a SPEI participating bank.
Note«MI-SPEI» and «SPEI» aren't the same thing: SPEI is the system that moves the money; MI-SPEI is where you look it up afterward. The similar name is what causes the confusion.
With VerikoWith Veriko you upload the photo or PDF you were sent, with no need for an account at Banxico or MI-SPEI: we confirm the CEP for you in about 10 seconds.
How to confirm a transfer
The CEP proves a transfer settled through SPEI: the receiving institution signs it and Banxico publishes it. It's requested with the date, the tracking key, the banks and the amount — the same details MI-SPEI asks for when you look it up.
ImportantA receipt from your app is not the CEP. Only the CEP is published by Banxico, with the receiving institution's digital signature and the exact details of the operation.
The CEP guide explains, step by step, how to request it on the Banxico site with the transfer's details.
How Veriko does it
Veriko looks up the CEP with Banxico using the details from the photo you upload or type in, with no need to log into MI-SPEI or open an account there. It gives you a verdict in about 10 seconds, with the date, the amount and the banks.
The difference is the effort per transfer. On the Banxico site you type in six exact details and solve a security image, one lookup at a time and within its hours. With Veriko the system reads the details, and if Banxico doesn't respond, the lookup can retry on its own.
| What you need | By hand on the Banxico site | With Veriko |
|---|---|---|
| Data | Six exact details and a security image | The photo of the receipt, or the typed details |
| Hours | 9:30 to 23:00 | Any time, with automatic retries if Banxico doesn't respond |
| Volume | One transfer per lookup | Hundreds of payments in a file, or by API |
| Result | The CEP's PDF or XML | The verdict with date, amount and banks, and the CEP saved |
| Record | None: you keep it yourself | History, reports and alerts in your panel |
If you send or receive transfers often, every manual lookup in MI-SPEI is time and a chance for error. There's a free plan that never expires to try it, and the pricing page compares the paid plans.
Frequently asked questions
Is MI-SPEI the same as SPEI?
No: SPEI is the system that settles transfers between banks. MI-SPEI is Banxico's module where you look up what already moved, with the CEP as one of its services, not a separate payment system. The similar name is what causes the confusion.
Do I need an account to use MI-SPEI?
It depends on the service. Downloading the CEP doesn't need an account: the transfer's details are enough, and anyone can request it. Other MI-SPEI services do require an account at a SPEI participating bank.
What details does Banxico ask for to look up a transfer?
The date the payment was made, the tracking key or reference number, and the sending and receiving institutions. Those are the same four details the CEP form asks for.
How can I see my SPEI transfer?
With those same details, on the Banxico site. The result is the CEP, if the transfer already settled; if not, Banxico doesn't find the operation.
What if my SPEI transfer doesn't arrive?
First check whether a CEP exists with those details: that tells you if the payment settled. The guide to tracking a SPEI transfer explains the full steps if it doesn't show up.
Is the CEP part of MI-SPEI?
Yes: it's one of its lookup services, the one that gives you the official receipt for an already-settled SPEI transfer, and the only one that doesn't require an account at a participating bank.
