How DiMo works
DiMo is a Bank of Mexico (Banxico) service that links your phone number to your bank account to receive transfers. With the recipient's number, you no longer need to ask for their CLABE or account number, as long as they've already linked their phone with their bank.
To send, you type the recipient's phone number into your bank's app, along with the amount and the concept, and authorize with a fingerprint or a token. During linking, Banxico doesn't receive your personal data.
Official sourceLinking your number to DiMo costs nothing. What your bank charges you for the transfer is up to your bank.
DiMo and a SPEI transfer
DiMo works on top of SPEI: when you send a payment with the recipient's phone number, the operation settles through SPEI just like any other interbank transfer. The only thing that changes is the detail you type in.
The banks and institutions Banxico authorizes take part. Some only let you receive transfers through DiMo, not send them, so it's worth checking what your bank offers before you try. Linking is done from each institution's own app, not on a separate site.
NoteDiMo and CoDi are different Banxico services: DiMo identifies an account with a phone number; CoDi is for collecting payments. The CoDi guide explains the differences.
How to confirm a payment
A transfer by DiMo settles through SPEI, so it also generates a CEP: the document the receiving institution signs and Banxico publishes. The receipt your app gives you doesn't replace the CEP.
ImportantThe app's receipt is not the CEP. Only Banxico publishes the CEP, with the tracking key and the exact details of the operation.
The CEP guide explains, step by step, how to request it on the Banxico site.
With VerikoWith Veriko you upload the photo or PDF you were sent. We confirm the CEP with Banxico for you, just like with any SPEI transfer.
How Veriko does it
Veriko looks up the CEP with Banxico using the details from the photo you upload or type in, and gives you a verdict in about 10 seconds. If the payment settled through SPEI — including one made with DiMo — the verdict carries the date, the amount, the banks and the tracking key the CEP shows.
The difference is the effort per transfer. On the Banxico site you type in six exact details and solve a security image, one lookup at a time and within its hours. With Veriko the system reads the details, and if Banxico doesn't respond, the lookup can retry on its own.
| What you need | By hand on the Banxico site | With Veriko |
|---|---|---|
| Data | Six exact details and a security image | The photo of the receipt, or the typed details |
| Hours | 9:30 to 23:00 | Any time, with automatic retries if Banxico doesn't respond |
| Volume | One transfer per lookup | Hundreds of payments in a file, or by API |
| Result | The CEP's PDF or XML | The verdict with date, amount and banks, and the CEP saved |
| Record | None: you keep it yourself | History, reports and alerts in your panel |
If you send or receive transfers often, every manual lookup is time and a chance for error. There's a free plan that never expires to try it, and the pricing page compares the paid plans.
